ally.millar@gmail.com I submit a question I THINGS I LIKED

  1. We were looking for a place to eat in the area and we were getting crazy because we didn’t know what we wanted and Asian wasn’t doing it. The usual. Then we saw Thistle Hill and we both remembered that we had eaten there before and liked it. Cool, let’s go look at the menu and ‘talk ourselves’ into it. We weren’t sold, but close.

So we were looking at the menu just about to walk in when this blonde waitress came outside - cool, a greeter, even better we thought. She opens with, “hi guys, come on in and eat the best food in Park Slope” - i thought, huh? New here? So i said, “you really think this is the best food in Brooklyn? That’s a tall order”, and she said, “absolutely the best food anywhere around here” with this smugness that just really turned me off to her and her flippant remark.

So I said something that was bound to start something, but i wanted to see how she would react. “So, you think this is the best food in Brooklyn, do you? That just tells me you are new here because you put a pub (albeit a good one, as I previously mentioned) against places like Al di La, Applewood and Blue Ribbon?”, then I continued to throw the knockout blow and said, “so you’ve just told us you don’t know food or you don’t know anything about food, which is it?” She just turned red and said, “well, then don’t eat here, i could care less” and proceeded to storm inside. Needless to say I haven’t been back since and I live quite close.

    — I mean, fucking seriously? You’re a horrible person! (My favorite part about this if you click through is that his hometown is listed as Apple Valley, CA)
